Bronx Bomba: 141st Commemoration of the Abolition of Slavery in Puerto Rico - Saturday March 22, 2014

A cultural struggle that has given me more than song, drum and dance. It's not enough to just read about it or search the internet, youtube, etc. It's more about applying it to your life and understanding that you too are a part of this. And when you finally arrive to that moment you will be so emotionally drained and exhausted feeling that you had enough and so you sleep. This is just the beginning of what is to come. You wake up in the middle of the night and you feel proud that you are still standing that because of your struggle yesterday another Puerto Rican learned a little more about their own history. They learned not a piquete or a beat on the drum. They learned not a new song or album. They learned not just another story. They learned that this is a committment to the end and history is now present in their lives. BombaYo "cultura en vivo"
