Los invito a el primer bombazo en el area de Fredericksburg! 

Un bombazo es una fiesta donde se toca, canta y baila bomba puertorriqueña entre la familia, comunidad y amigos. En un bombazo todos tienen la oportunidad de bailar al ritmo de los barriles de bomba y dialogar con ellos mediante sus movimientos o “piquetes”. También pueden aprovechar y tocar barriles, hacer coros y hasta cantar. Todos hacen un acto de union mediante la música y el baile.

Traigan sus faldas, barriles, voces, o solo su presencia para pasar un rato chevere y practicar lo aprendido en los talleres. Como las veces anteriores, se hará tipo 'potluck', así que pongan en los commentarios lo que van a traer.
Sientanse en la libertad de invitar a amigos o familiares. Esto es un evento para toda la familia!

The 4th Annual South Bronx Folk Festival Grand Finale Bronx, NY - A breathtaking double-bill with Bomba, Plena, and Seis as part of the 4th Annual South Bronx Folk Festival is taking place on November 23 at Hostos Community College. This performance brings together two Puerto Rican dance companies; Bronx-based Danza Fiesta; Baile y Teatro Puertorriqueňo and directly from the island, Gíbaro de Puerto Rico, in an exciting performance that will feature live music and dance. "We are honored to have Gíbaro de Puerto Rico as our guests and sharing the stage with them", says Gilda Rivera-Pantojas, Danza Fiesta's artistic director. The 4th Annual South Bronx Folk Festival is presented by Diversity in Arts in Nations for Cultural Education in partnership with Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture. The Puerto Rican Cultural Project and the Holyoke Public Library are pleased to invite you to be part of an event to open the Holidays’ festivities on December 7, 2013 at 7 PM at the Holyoke City Hall Auditorium. This event will feature three pillars of the music from Puerto Rico in an unprecedented concert. 

Roulé Candela on Main Street: An Afro-Caribbean and Carols Concert promises to be a musical experience that travels from our grass roots rhythms in a combination of traditional dances of Puerto Rican Bomba and the interpretation of some of the most beloved songs of Puerto Rico and the world.

On stage will be: Yoruba II led by Lydia Pérez, a nationwide renowned representative of the music and dance of Puerto Rican Bomba, with William Cepeda, an internationally renowned and Grammy Award nominee jazz musician who combines Bomba as base to his brand new style call Afro-Rican Jazz. Joining them will be International Tenor, Charlie Berrios, a native from Puerto Rico living in Holyoke, who has performed with some of the world most prestigious opera companies in Germany, Italy, and Paris, who will be performing some of the most celebrated Puerto Rican Christmas Carols. 

This event promises to be an unforgettable experience for all converging nostalgia, music and culture.

Chicago Bomba: Puerto Rican Arts Alliance's Loiza in Chicago - Saturday November 23, 2013

Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA) proudly presents “Loíza in Chicago”, a traveling exhibition that explores the West African and Spanish history of Puerto Rico’s Vejigante tradition. Inaugurated in January 2012 at PRAA’s new cultural center, it features the sounds and rhythms of Afro Caribbean drums and dances accompanied by costumes and masks from the coastal town of Loíza, Puerto Rico. This Harris Theater performance culminates the two-year exhibition and will feature AfriCaribe, for an evening of percussion-driven music and dance forms rooted in African traditions and accompanied by vibrant Vejigantes masks and costumes.
