Los Pleneros de la 21 are proud and excited to partner again with Master Plenero, Hector "Tito" Matos (Founder/Director of Viento de Agua and long time familia of LP21), direct from Puerto Rico, for a special ONE time only master class and exploratory workshop on LA PLENA de Puerto Rico.

Give a close to the summer and kick off the school season with a comprehensive and unique class on the diverse drumming styles, techniques, vocalizations and performance aspects of this rich and charismatic musical genre with one of todays most versed plenero practitioners.

Walk-ins are welcomed, but space is limited, so email or call us ahead to reserve your seat.
No previous knowledge in Plena is required (though it is recommended!). Drums are provided on a limited, first come, first serve basis!

Un Paso Alante is a special component of LP21's Bomba & Plena Community Workshops, offering seasonal and special intensive master classes, musical laboratories and indepth workshops on a variety of performance and creative aspects of the Bomba & Plena, and musical traditions of the Afro-Caribbean.
The program is made possible in part by support from the National Endowment on the Arts, the New York State Council for the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and the Offices of NYC Council Member Melissa Mark Viverito, District 8.
