• Humano Multicultural Project Benefit presents Plenazo Parrandero with Jorge Arce's Raiz de Plena, Bomba Sankofa and DJ RiffStylez. BOMBA, PLENA, Bachata, Salsa and more UNDER THE SAME ROOF!!! The “Plenazo” is a community activity that has been celebrated in Puerto Rico, New York, Chicago and Boston. It is framed by the “Plena,” a contagious and appealing Afro-Caribbean music and dance form developed in the working class communities of Puerto Rico.Plena symbolizes unity, strength and heritage of the Caribbean and Latin America diaspora. This is a FUNDRAISER for Community Arts Advocate and Humano Multicultural Arts Project! Tickets are $35 but if you have a group of five people or more interested in going, it will only be $30 each! Humano Multicultural Project: Since 1987, Humano Multicultural Programs has served over 20,000 children and youth in Greater Boston, New England and Puerto Rico in schools, neighborhood settlement houses and community centers. Humano has successfully addressed high student drop-out rates with workshops and media projects on racism and diversity, self-esteem and roll models, peer-pressure, drugs and alcohol abuse, AIDS and sex education, plus violence and conflict resolution. This year Humano is in a year long residency at the New Mission High School in Hyde Park through a grant by EdVestors.
