Bomba Body Dance Classes starting JUNE 25th at TapRoot Cultural Center 1917 N. Howard, Tampa, Fl!

Bomba is a fun and energetic cardio workout that works your entire body. You'll learn cool dance moves as well as Puerto Rican folkloric dance. Be introduced to rhythms from different regions of the island of Puerto Rico.We'll dance to traditional Afro-Caribbean music as well as contemporary. The moves are easy to learn and the choreography is fun and upbeat.

Classes are sure to improve your Cardiovascular Endurance, Coordination, Stress Reduction, Flexibility, and Rhythm

Wednesdays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 3pm, Sundays TBD

Summer Session: June 25th - July 30th

Cost: $50 per session, $10 drop-ins

Bomberos are always welcomed! (drummers are wanted) Please share your talents with these dedicated students!

Clases de Baile de Bomba este Junio 2014 en el Centro Cultural TapRoot en el area de La Universidad de Tampa.

Bomba es una diversión y entrenamiento cardio enérgico que trabaja todo el cuerpo. Aprenderá pasos de baile folklorico puertorriqueño, Introducirse a los ritmos de diferentes regiones de la isla de Puerto Rico y a bailar la música tradicional afro-puertorriqueña así como contemporáneo. Los movimientos son fáciles de aprender y la coreografía es divertida y alegre.

Clases seguramente mejorarán su Resistencia Cardiovascular, Coordinación, Reducción de la Tensión, Flexibilidad, y Ritmo

Miércoles a 7:30pm, Sábados a las 3pm, Domingos (POR DETERMINAR)

Sesión de Verano: 25 Junio al 30 Julio

Coste: 50$ para la sesión, $10 por clase

VA Bomba: Semilla Cultural presents Children's Bomba Dance and Percussion Workshop and Adult Bomba Dance Workshop - Sunday May 18, 2014

By popular demand, we bring you another children's bomba workshop! 

The workshop will cover percussion, basic steps, a dance routine for boys and girls and an individual practice. We encourage you to bring your child to learn and experience Puerto RIcan culture while having fun. Children between 4 and 11 years old are welcome to attend. 

This workshop will be on May 18th, 2014 at 12:30pm at My BodyMovez in Woodbridge. (Just before the adult bomba dance workshop https://www.facebook.com/events/656342584413006/).

We extend you an invitation to learn about the Afro-Caribbean music and dance from Puerto Rico called BOMBA. It is a music and dance that dates back to the 1700s, developed by the African slaves that worked in the sugarcane fields, and it is still alive in the island and in the diaspora. It is a dialog between the dancer and one of the many drummers. The dancer makes body figures called 'piquetes' and the lead drummer --called the 'primo' or 'subidor'-- interprets them in the drum. One dancer at a time 'challenges' or 'talks' to the 'primo' drummer through his or her dance sequence. Bomba is a personal expression, it is freedom, it is our legacy and our treasure.
