"COME JOIN OUR 6TH ANNUAL BOMBARBECUE. A SIGNATURE EVENT THAT STARTED IN 2008. HERE WE ACKNOWLEDGE EVERYONE THAT HAS IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER PARTICIPATED IN THE BOMBAYO COMMUNITY BOMBA WORKSHOPS SINCE 2007. THE PURPOSE OF THIS EVENT IS TO VALUE WHAT HAS BEEN MARGINALIZED AND TO REMIND OUR PEOPLE THAT WE STILL HAVE MORE WORK TO DO FOR THE NEXT GENERATION. THOUGH THERE ARE SOME THAT HAVE THE HONOR TO CULTIVATE THE BOMBA THERE ARE 100 TIMES MORE IN NUMBERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY REVIVING THE BOMBA. I AM ONE FOR THAT MATTER AND AM VERY PROUD TO ADMIT IT. MANY LIKE ME ARE GOING THROUGH THE SAME EXPERIENCE "LEARNING ABOUT BOMBA IN THEIR ADULT LIFE". EMBRACE IT AND HONOR IT SO THAT OUR CHILDREN CAN BE THE NEXT GENERATION TO CULTIVATE WHAT YOU HAVE STRUGGLED FOR. IF THIS MESSAGE HAS ANY IMPACT OR MEANING TO YOU THAN COME JOINE ME ON MAY 25 AT THE ANDREW FREEDMAN LAWN AND CELEBRATE WITH OUR NEW BOMBA COMMUNITY THAT MOST LIKELY WILL SHOW UP DANCING IN FRONT OF YOUR DOOR STEP!"

Brooklyn Bomba: Bomba Yo at The Red Hook Harvest Festival 2013 - Saturday October 19, 2013

Bomba Yo will be celebrating their 5th year sharing bomba at the Red Hook Harvest Festival. Its become a tradition they look forward to every year.

This area was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy which makes the 10th year of the Harvest Festival even sweeter ... and stronger. Please join them in celebration. This Saturday, Oct 19 (across from Ikea) — at Red Hook Community Farm.
